Grandma's House Specialties

Updated: Nov 6, 2018

It all started with hot chocolate at my Grandma Mary’s house she always made it with cocoa powder and whole milk, it was topped with mini marshmallows, and I loved it because it was her special recipe and she only made it at her house.

By adding little touches, you make it “Grandma’s special” way. Your little ones will look forward to having special things at your house. Here are a few tricks I use to make every day fare seem extra special at my house.

Grandma’s hot chocolate is always an extra special treat, I make mine with Darigold chocolate milk (whole milk not 2%) and then top it with whipped cream and sprinkles.

Waffles are special with bacon crumbled into the batter or topped with fruit and whipped cream. Pigs in a blanket are sausage links rolled in a pancake, but to kids they are just plain fun, especially when they get to dip them in syrup ( use fruit syrups for that special touch). Mickey pancakes or eggs can take

When my little ones help in the kitchen or pick up all their toys in the living room, I am always quick to reward with a treat. I save medicine cups from cough syrup, and then fill them to overflowing with whipped cream and sprinkles, sometimes I put maraschino cherries in the bottom. Their Mom’s just laugh, it really doesn’t spoil dinner, but sure puts a smile on little faces, and it's something that only happens at Grandma's house.
