Pony Camp

Some of my favorite memories are of visiting my cousin on her family farm. Jeannie and I would spend the afternoons riding her horse and going to neighboring farms to visit friends. It was the beginning of a lifelong love of riding that I indulged whenever I had the chance. When we lived in Wales I took riding lessons and learned to ride on an English saddle. It was a lovely experience riding along the rugged Welsh coastline.

Bella was two years old when she rode her first pony at the county fair in Alaska during one of my visits. She fell in love with horses and kept talking about getting a pony of her own. I was elated to share my love of horses with my sweet girl.

I went online and found Roze-el stables here in Port Orchard, they offered pony rides, parties, and even pony camp. At three when she came to visit ,Grandpa took her for a half hour ride , she was delighted. When she returned home she would ask if she could have a pony. We told her she couldn't have one at her house but she could ride one whenever she came to visit. I told her I would sign her up for pony camp for the following summer. Roze-El Stables offers a week long program that ends with a show for the parents followed by a barbeque.

Bella was thrilled, she was really looking forward to pony camp and could barely sleep the week before. Roze-El stables is beautiful place, they have ducks, chickens and rabbits all around the property, a playground and picnic area, it’s a magical place for children.

The week flew by and we all went to watch her performance, we marveled at how much she had learned, the staff at Roze-El are amazing, the barbeque was lovely, the certificate with Bella’s photo of her on a horse is a beautiful keepsake she will always treasure. We will do this again next year, in fact I am thinking of having one of the pony parties if I can just decide which one would be the most fun.
